Placeholder text for a product demo

This page is sample legal text written for the CareerPlate demo. It isn’t legal advice and hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer. Review it with qualified counsel before launch.

This Privacy Policy explains how CareerPlate (“we,” “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you use the CareerPlate website and job-matching service (the “Service”), and the choices you have about it.

We’ve tried to write it the way we’d want it explained to us. If anything is unclear, email hello@careerplate.com.

The short version

  • We never sell your personal information.
  • An employer sees your details only when you apply yourself, or when we submit an application you’ve approved (or chose not to veto) on Full-Service.
  • You can access, correct, export or delete your information at any time.
  • In this demo, everything you enter stays in your browser’s local storage.

1. Information we collect

We collect what we need to find and match jobs for you and, if you choose Full-Service, to apply on your behalf.

Information you give us

  • Account information. Your name, email address and phone number, plus your password if you choose to use one. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, never in plain text.
  • Job preferences. Target job titles and categories, seniority, work type, preferred location and arrangement (remote, hybrid or on-site), minimum pay, and industries you’re interested in.
  • Your résumé. The file you upload and the details we extract from it, such as your name, most recent job title and skills.
  • Application details. On Full-Service, the extra information an application needs, such as your work authorization, links, answers to an employer’s screening questions and your cover-letter template. We never answer demographic or equal-opportunity questions for you: we choose “decline to answer” where the form offers it. If an employer requires such an answer, you give it yourself, it’s used only for that application, and we delete it once the application is sent or dropped.
  • Messages. Anything you send us when you contact support.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage information. Pages you visit, features you use, jobs you open, and actions such as marking a job as applied.
  • Device information. Browser type, operating system, and approximate location derived from your IP address (city level, never precise GPS).

Payment information

When billing is live, a third-party payment processor will handle payments. We’ll receive a confirmation and limited details such as your card’s last four digits, never your full card number.

In this demo

This demo processes no payments and never asks for card details. Choosing a plan simulates a successful purchase in your browser.

2. How we use your information

  • To match you with jobs. Our matching engine compares your preferences and résumé with each verified listing to score and rank your matches, and explains why each job fits.
  • To apply on your behalf (Full-Service only). We use your résumé, preferences and application details to prepare applications, and a person on our team submits only the ones you approve, or, if you turn on automatic approval, the ones you don’t veto within your veto window. If your résumé is a Word (.docx) file, we may also save a copy for each application, reworded to use the job’s own terms for things your résumé already says (never adding anything); you can see every change before it’s sent, send your original instead, or turn this off in your settings.
  • To handle employers’ replies (Full-Service only). We give you a private email address and use it on the applications we submit for you, so employers’ emails come to us first. Our team reads them to sort them, uses verification codes and account-activation links only to finish your applications, and shows you the ones that matter, such as interview requests, offers and updates, in your dashboard.
  • To run the Service. To create and secure your account, keep you signed in, manage your subscription and answer support requests.
  • To keep you informed. We send service messages, plus new-match updates on the schedule your plan includes: a weekly digest on Self-Serve, real-time alerts on Full-Service. You can turn off non-essential emails at any time.
  • To improve CareerPlate. To learn which features help and to fix problems, using aggregated or de-identified data wherever we can.
  • To protect people and follow the law. To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet our legal obligations.

We don’t use your résumé, job preferences, applications or contact details for advertising, and we don’t sell your information. We do measure how our own ads perform: see Cookies, advertising pixels and ads.

3. How we share information

We never sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with data brokers or other job boards. We share it only in these situations:

  • With an employer, when you apply. If you apply yourself through a listing’s link, you share your information directly with that employer on its own site. On Full-Service, we send an employer your application only after you’ve approved that specific application, or, if you turn on automatic approval, after its veto window has passed without a veto.
  • With service providers. Companies that host our infrastructure, store data, send email or process payments for us. Our contracts with them limit their use of your information to providing those services.
  • With Meta and X, to measure our ads. The Meta Pixel on our website tells Meta when someone visits a page, creates an account or buys a plan, as described in Cookies, advertising pixels and ads. We also use the X Pixel to measure page visits and completed account creation for our ads on X. We do not include your name, email, résumé, preferences or applications in these events.
  • For legal reasons. When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or CareerPlate.
  • In a business transfer. If CareerPlate is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that deal. This policy will continue to apply to it.
  • With your consent. In any other case, only when you’ve asked us to.

About the jobs we list. Listings on CareerPlate are sourced from publicly available postings, and CareerPlate is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the companies whose jobs appear on the Service. Being listed doesn’t give an employer access to any of your information. An employer receives it only when you apply, as described above. See our Terms of Service.

4. Storage, security and retention

In the production service, your information will be stored with a cloud database provider in the United States and encrypted in transit and at rest. Résumé files will be kept in private storage that only you and the team members working on your account can access.

We keep your information while your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except for records we must keep to meet legal obligations, such as billing records. Backups are overwritten on their normal schedule.

Emails that employers send to your Full-Service application address are deleted 180 days after they arrive, or sooner if you delete your account.

No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident ever affects your information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.

In this demo

Nothing leaves your browser. Your account, preferences, résumé details, matches and plan are saved only in this browser’s local storage. There’s no server-side database. Your résumé file is never uploaded: the demo records its name and size and simulates the parsing step.

5. Cookies, advertising pixels and ads

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and protect your session.

To measure how our ads on Facebook and Instagram perform, our website (careerplate.com and the CareerPlate app) uses the Meta Pixel, a script from Meta Platforms. When you view a page, click to email us, create an account or buy a plan, it tells Meta which of these happened, the page address, the plan’s price for a purchase, and the details Meta’s script reads from your browser and its own cookies. We don’t send Meta your name, email address, phone number, résumé, job preferences, searches or applications. Meta may use what the pixel collects under its own privacy policy, including to show you ads. To measure our ads on X, we also use the X Pixel, a script from X Corp. It records page visits and completed account creation, the page address, and the browser and cookie information its script collects. We do not send X your name, email, phone number, résumé, preferences, searches or applications. X processes what it collects under its privacy policy.

Your choice. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we don’t load either advertising pixel. You can also block it with your browser’s privacy settings or a content blocker, and manage your ad preferences in your Meta and X accounts. Turning it off doesn’t change how CareerPlate works for you.

In this demo

This demo sets no cookies of its own and includes no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. It uses your browser’s local storage (entries whose names begin with careerplate:) to remember your account, onboarding progress, matches and plan across page reloads. Clearing this site’s data in your browser erases all of it.

6. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that’s inaccurate or out of date.
  • Delete your account and personal information.
  • Export a copy of your information in a portable, machine-readable format.
  • Stop applying for you. Withdraw your consent for Full-Service applications at any time, and we’ll stop submitting new ones right away.
  • Stop non-essential email. Use the unsubscribe link in any message.

Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have more rights under local law. To make a request, email hello@careerplate.com. We’ll verify your identity, respond within the time the law requires, and never treat you differently for exercising your rights.

In this demo

To erase everything in this demo, use Dashboard → Demo tools → Reset demo, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings.

7. Children’s privacy

CareerPlate is built for adults looking for work, and you must be at least 18 to create an account. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we’ll delete it. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us at hello@careerplate.com.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as CareerPlate changes. We’ll post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we’ll let you know by email or in the product before it takes effect.

9. Contact us
