Terms of Service

The agreement between you and CareerPlate: plans and billing, what we do and don’t promise, and how Full-Service applications work.

Placeholder text for a product demo

This page is sample legal text written for the CareerPlate demo. It isn’t legal advice and hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer. Review it with qualified counsel before launch.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and CareerPlate (“we,” “us”). They govern your use of the CareerPlate website and job-matching service (the “Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

The short version

  • Plans are billed monthly, and you can cancel anytime.
  • We help you find and apply to jobs, but we can’t guarantee interviews or offers.
  • Listings come from publicly available postings. We’re not affiliated with the companies whose jobs we list.
  • On Full-Service, we submit only the applications you’ve approved.

1. The Service

CareerPlate finds job openings at the source (company careers pages, companies’ public applicant-tracking job boards, hiring posts from company accounts and hiring teams, and similar primary sources), checks that they’re still open, and matches them to the preferences and résumé you give us. You can use CareerPlate in two ways:

  • Self-Serve. Your full list of matched jobs, unlocked, with links to apply on each employer’s own site.
  • Full-Service. Your full list of matched jobs, plus our team prepares and submits applications for the roles you approve and tracks each one through to a decision.

We may add, change or remove features over time. If a change materially reduces what your paid plan includes, we’ll tell you in advance so you can cancel.

In this demo

This is a demonstration build. The companies and listings shown are fictional, accounts exist only in your browser, no payments are processed, and no applications are submitted anywhere.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use CareerPlate. You may not use the Service if we’ve previously suspended your account, or if the law prohibits you from using it. You’re responsible for making sure you’re eligible to work in the jobs you apply for.

3. Your account

  • Give us accurate, current information (including your contact details and résumé) and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password and sign-in links private. You’re responsible for activity on your account.
  • Tell us right away at hello@careerplate.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • One person per account. Accounts can’t be shared or transferred.

4. Subscriptions and billing

  • Plans and prices. Self-Serve costs $19 per month and Full-Service costs $249 per month, plus any applicable taxes. You’ll see the exact amount before you confirm.
  • Monthly billing. Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month until you cancel.
  • Cancel anytime. You can cancel from your dashboard at any time. Canceling stops future renewals, and you keep access through the end of the month you’ve already paid for. Except where the law requires otherwise, we don’t refund partial months.
  • Switching plans. When you switch plans, the new plan starts right away and your previous subscription is canceled, so you’re never billed for two plans at once.
  • Price changes. We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice before a price change affects your subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

In this demo

This demo processes no payments. Checkout never asks for card details. Choosing a plan simply simulates a successful subscription in your browser. Because there’s no paid month to run out, canceling from the dashboard takes effect right away and returns you to the free preview of your matches. Nothing is billed or refunded either way.

5. No guarantee of employment or interviews

CareerPlate helps you find openings and, on Full-Service, apply to them. We don’t guarantee that you’ll get a response, an interview, a job offer or any particular pay, and we don’t guarantee how many matches you’ll receive. Only employers decide whom to interview and hire.

Match scores are estimates based on the information you give us and the details in each listing. They’re meant to help you prioritize, not to predict an employer’s decision.

6. Job listings and sources

Listings on CareerPlate are sourced from publicly available postings: company careers pages, companies’ public applicant-tracking job boards, public hiring posts by company accounts and hiring teams, and other primary sources such as company newsrooms. We check that listings are still open and remove ones we can’t confirm. Postings change quickly, though, so we can’t guarantee that every listing is accurate, complete or still available.

Each employer is responsible for its own postings and hiring process. When you follow a link to an employer’s site or applicant-tracking system, that site’s own terms and privacy policy apply.

7. Non-affiliation and trademarks

CareerPlate is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the companies whose jobs are listed on the Service. A listing on CareerPlate doesn’t mean the employer has partnered with us or reviewed our service.

Company names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners. We use them only to identify the employer offering a job.

In this demo

Every company in this demo is fictional and uses a reserved .example domain. Company logos are generated monograms.

8. Full-Service authorization

If you subscribe to Full-Service, you authorize CareerPlate to prepare and submit job applications on your behalf, but only for roles you approve. Specifically:

  • We prepare applications from your résumé, preferences and answers, and fill in a cover letter from your own template, which you can edit for each application.
  • If your résumé is a Word (.docx) file, we may change some of its wording to the job’s own term for the same thing (for example, “Postgres” to “PostgreSQL”), but we never add a skill, tool, qualification or experience it doesn’t already show; you can review every change before the application is sent, send your original résumé instead, or turn this off.
  • You review each application before it’s sent, and we submit only the applications you approve. If you turn on automatic approval, you authorize us to submit each prepared application once its veto window (24 hours unless you choose another) passes without a veto, within the weekly limit you set. You can switch back, pause, or veto any application that hasn’t been submitted yet.
  • A person on our team submits every application on the employer’s own site. We never answer demographic or equal-opportunity questions for you.
  • You confirm that the information you give us is true and complete. We won’t misrepresent your experience, qualifications or eligibility to work.
  • We follow each employer’s own application process and terms. Where a site doesn’t accept applications submitted by a third party, we’ll send you the link to apply yourself.
  • You can revoke this authorization at any time by emailing hello@careerplate.com or by canceling Full-Service. We’ll stop submitting new applications right away. Applications already sent stay with those employers.
  • Applications we submit use a private email address we give you. Employers’ emails to it come to us: we use verification codes and activation links only to complete your applications, and pass on the messages that need you, such as interview requests and offers, in your dashboard (with an email heads-up for interviews and offers). Employers may also call you directly. Reply to them as you would for any application of your own.

In this demo

In this demo, nothing is ever submitted to an employer. The Full-Service pipeline on the dashboard is simulated to show how tracking would work.

9. Acceptable use

Use CareerPlate only to look for work for yourself. You agree not to:

  • give false or misleading information, or apply to jobs in someone else’s name;
  • scrape, crawl, copy or resell listings or other content from the Service, or access it with bots or other automated tools;
  • probe, disrupt or get around the Service’s security, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows;
  • use the Service to harass, spam or mislead employers or anyone else;
  • use the Service to break the law, including anti-discrimination and privacy laws.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

10. Your content

You own your résumé and the other information you give us (“Your Content”). You grant CareerPlate a limited license to store, process and use Your Content only to provide the Service to you, for example to match you with jobs and, on Full-Service, to prepare and submit applications you approve. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for copies already sent to employers at your direction or kept in routine backups for a limited time.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, including our software, design, text, graphics, match explanations and the CareerPlate name and logo, belongs to CareerPlate and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own job search as long as you follow these Terms. Job listings remain the property of the employers who published them.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, CareerPlate disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any listing is accurate or still open.

To the fullest extent the law allows, CareerPlate won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, earnings or opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.

Some places don’t allow these exclusions or limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

13. Termination

You can stop using CareerPlate and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the Service, and we’ll tell you first whenever we can. If we end your access without cause, we’ll refund prepaid fees for the unused part of your billing period.

Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including Your content, Intellectual property, Disclaimers and limitation of liability, and Governing law, will continue to apply.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If a dispute comes up, please email us first. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally.

To decide before launch: the venue for disputes, and whether to include an arbitration agreement or class-action waiver. Settle these with counsel.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we’ll notify you by email or in the product at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using CareerPlate after that, the updated Terms apply. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before they take effect.

16. Contact
